At age eight, Nolan took up the guitar and his songwriting began. He wrote songs instead of book reports and performed them for his class.

Nolan started to post his music on soundcloud in 2014. Three years later he released his first self produced album at age thirteen.

He studied filmmaking at the Chicago Academy for the Arts for two years. His interest in film aesthetics influenced his musical composition. This lead to his album If You Could Only Realize.

In the summer of 2021, Nolan released his latest album, Mindstream, and formed a band to perform his music live. Switching majors from film to music, all members of the band were studying jazz and classical music together.

Now, the Nolan Trotter Experience performs live throughout Chicago. The eighteen year old is working on his fifth record set to come out in the summer of 2022.
